Phases of Job Interview

Phases of Job Interview

Job interview is an important aspect, especially, when you are going through it. Make sure you are proficient in understanding the phases of a job interview. It is not about sending resumes and getting selected, but rather learning through the experience.

Before starting your search and sending resumes, you should be aware of the different stages of an interview. Below is a list of them:

1. Pre-Interview Preparations

  • A job seeker does a lot of research about the company, where the interview is being conducted.
  • Understanding the working of an organization, company’s latest trends and developments, product and services, etc.
  • It is recommended to reach on time and for that take into consideration the factors such as distance, traffic, etc.
  • Prepare some questions and answers, but make sure to answer the questions in a narrative way. This makes your answers sound interesting, as it can attract the attention of an interviewer.
  • Check yourself before going for an interview. For instance, how you talk? How you enter an interview room? Etc. Practice these things so, that you are not nervous while giving an interview.
  • It is better if you can imagine the whole scenario with a friend or colleague and practice giving the answers. Then you can give answers confidently without hesitating.
  • Prepare some questions which you would like to know from the employer about the company or your role.
  • Carry all the important documents such as your resume, letters of recommendation, etc. which you think can be asked by an employer.

2. While giving an Interview

  • Make sure to enter the room in a way which reflects your personality.
  • It is being said “First impression is your last impression”.
  • When you enter the interview room, greet the interviewer.
  • The signs of getting nervous are how you talk and walk? A lot of people have the habit of moving legs, or fidgeting with their fingers. Try to be calm and relax.
  • Answer questions in a story manner, end it in the same way.
  • Don’t talk about salary in the beginning, instead wait till the end of the interview.
  • Be calm and relaxed, even if you can’t answer any question. Don’t get upset about it, but rather focus on the present moment.
  • It is good to ask some questions from an interviewer, so that you are aware about the company and the roles and responsibilities you would have if you are part of the organization. This indicates you are interested to get knowledge about the company.
  • When leaving the interview room, greet the employer by saying “Thank You”. These are small things, but they make a lasting impression on the person who is taking your interview.

3. Post Interview

  • A nice gesture is to send a Thank you note or follow-up letter to the interviewer.
  • Even if you are not selected, don’t be upset about it. You get a job when mutual needs are perfectly met, i.e. an employer and employee are both fully satisfied.
  • Even if the interview didn’t go well, don’t write about it on any social networking site. Since an employer or anyone who reads it may have negative thinking about you.

Conclusion:

Giving a job interview can enhance your skills and it is an experience through which a job seeker can learn. Even when you are not selected, this can bring out the best in you, so that you don’t repeat the mistakes in the next interview.

Manage Time Manage Life

Manage Time Manage Life

Time waits for nobody. It passes without caring for anybody or anything. Managing time is managing life.

Effective time management depends upon proper understanding about the importance of time. Time is a unique resource with certain unique features. It cannot be saved or stored. If not utilised, it gets wasted. Unlike other resources, it cannot even be replaced. It is the only resource each of us have in exactly the same amount. How much a person accomplishes in, say a day, depends on how much he utilises his time. By proper time management, one may be able to achieve as much as three average persons would. Hence, it is observed that those who waste time also tend to waste money and energy.

Some of the major factors that waste our time are lack of planning, failure to delegate, interruptions, adoption of wrong values causing maladies like jealousy, hatred, anger and ego, et cetera. Friends are also known to be stealers of time. Prejudices, dependencies, leanings, attachments, worries and tensions leading to sickness of the body and mind also eat away a lot of our time.

So, do not put off till tomorrow what you can do today, do not put off till the next moment what you can do in this very moment. One must know where does one’s time go or how the time is being spent. Keeping a time log is a useful device for discovering what is wasting our time. It’s a very simple but valuable tool. One must spend a few minutes at the end of each day for this purpose. The record will give us an accurate indication of time usage, showing us where we are most effective and least effective in the use of time, giving us a vast room for improvement in saving the maximum amount of time and enhancing our inner powers to rescue ourselves from this trap.

New Changes to the Facebook News Feed

New Changes to the Facebook News Feed

Facebook has once again made some more changes to the ever-evolving News Feed. Users will notice a lot of differences between the feed they knew six months ago and the feed that they see today. This is because Facebook is trying to make sure you are seeing more of the content that is actually of interest to you while weeding out the things that are not.

On average, there are 1,500 stories that could show up in your personal News Feed every day. With Facebook's algorithm, though, you only see about 20% of them. Updates to the algorithm plus new designs come together to make a more personalized News Feed for each individual user.

So, what are the new changes you will be seeing?

Videos on Auto-Play

Several months ago, Facebook did some test runs of auto-play video ads. Now, over the next few months, users will begin to see more and more of these auto-play videos, including brand advertising, in their News Feeds.

The videos will play automatically, both on the desktop and mobile versions of the social network. There is no sound to the videos unless you click on them, which saves you from having to endure a cacophony from multiple videos playing at once.

Auto-play videos only include those uploaded directly to the site, not those shared from third-party sites like YouTube.

Bigger Images

Everyone knows that posts that include images get the most engagement from social media users. Now, the images that you carefully curate to go along with a post will get even more notice because they will appear larger in New Feeds.

Images now appear the width of the New Feed, making them much more impact and hard to pass up.

Quality Content

In order to make sure users are seeing more quality content in their News Feeds, Facebook changed the algorithm to allow more current events and news to appear. This change might make the social network a competitor for Twitter in the breaking news market and the conversations that come with it.

Increased Brand Content

Facebook has made some other tweaks to allow more brand content to reach a broader audience. Brands can tag one another in posts, allowing them to reach people who are following the other brands.

Reappearing Content

Users will also notice that they see the same posts in their News Feed even after they have read them. This is a way for Facebook to make sure that you are seeing content that could be a hot topic among their friends and family.

Fewer Spam Links

One of the things that irritates social media users most is clicking on a link and being taken to a page that is full of ads. Another new part of the algorithm helps prevent links to ad pages that are deemed spam by Facebook from popping up in News Feeds too often. They will still be there, but at least an attempt is being made to limit them for us.

There will always be changes made to our favorite social networks in an attempt to make sure users are getting the best experience. What changes are you happy to see on the News Feed?

True or False Love?

Love

An old Chinese saying goes like this: “You have been looking for your better half everywhere, she is just very near you in the light.” If you are hearing that for the first time, you might wonder what it is supposed to mean. I think it is speaking about true love. It means, if you want to find it, you need to look to the light-that is, to the light of the inner world-rather than to the physical world.

Many people don’t even believe true love is possible. They are only familiar with another kind of love. When they fall in love, it is because they have found someone who fills the needs of their ego. They feel empty and alone by themselves, so they expect this new person to guarantee their happiness. However, it doesn’t take long before the new partner displays needs of his or her own. Suddenly the needs of the two individuals are in conflict. Before they know what hit them, the honeymoon is over. In its place is pain and emptiness, often more than they felt before the relationship began. It is false because it doesn’t involve a deep and true connection.

True love is the opposite. It is a connection at the level of the heart and souls. Instead of expecting to get something from another person, you focus on what you can give to your partner. If you truly love someone, you don’t fear he or she will hurt you. You don’t define each other on the basis of ego. Rather, you accept one another unconditionally. If any conflicts do arise, you can overcome them because at the level of the heart you recognize your oneness.

How do you find true love? Paradoxically, it can’t be found. That is because it already exists within you at the core of your inner world. It may surprise you to hear that it is not a feeling or emotion. It is not an action that you do. Whether you recognize it or not, it is the very nature of your heart. It is the essence of your inner world.

Some people discover it within themselves when they meet a partner, and get married. Others experience it emanating from their heart, even if they don’t find a partner to share it. However, I think most people long to find true love in the form of a relationship.

If this is the case for you, I suggest you learn to let your heart and intuition guide you in life in general. As the Chinese saying says, look to the light of your inner world. Trust that light will lead you to your partner because that light is not different from him or her. Know that once you are heading in the right direction, whatever you need will be come to you at the right time, including true love.

The Simplest Formula for Career Happiness

Being happy at work is complicated.

After all, there are so many factors that go into it: your relationship with your boss and your co-workers, the fulfillment (or lack thereof) you get out of your day-to-day tasks, the mission that your company is working toward. Not to mention if what you’re doing today is what you think you want to be doing five, 10, or 20 years from now.

Most of us (ourselves included) have felt frustrated or unhappy at work—and worse, felt stuck in whatever circumstances are causing us to feel that way. And that is tough.

But sometimes, it doesn’t have to be as tough as we’re making it.

We were reminded of that fact when we came across this brilliant—and brilliantly simple—infographic showing that happiness (at work or otherwise) is entirely in our hands.

Are You Happy?
Image: Typcut

OK, we know it’s not always as simple this. But, we think it’s a good reminder that, any time we’re feeling less-than-thrilled with something going on, that we each have the power—and the responsibility—to make a change.
