When You Want To Learn About Desktop Computers, Read This

When You Want To Learn About Desktop Computers, Read This

By Chariahs

Millions of people are using desktop computers right now. They may be using them at work or at home, but they’re running all the time somewhere. This is probably something you know a little about, but it wouldn’t hurt you to learn some things about desktop computers. Here are some tips to think over.

  1. If you are going to be doing some upgrades to your desktop computer be sure to ground yourself before you begin working on your computer. A simple jolt of static electricity can be more than enough to fry your motherboard. If you do not ground yourself, you will be putting your whole system at risk.

  2. Consider the disk burning capabilities of any desktop computers that you are looking at. Consider whether you plan to just watch media or to make your own CDs and DVDs. If you plan on doing the latter, make sure sure the computer that you want supports it. Not all desktops come with these capabilities.

  3. If you are concerned with your computer’s speed, then start things off with a boot check. Head to the “start” menu and then run “ms config.” Look at which programs automatically start with the machine. Disable anything you don’t use. This will speed up your system.

  4. Be very careful to check on the versions of software in any new desktop you buy, unless you want to be constantly updating it or replacing the operating system completely. Many good deals can be had on desktops that contain nearly obsolete software, which can complicate use later on. Make sure what you buy will be compatible online and for other purposes.

  5. If you favor a certain brand of desktop news, do your research on it and stay current with upcoming releases. The last thing you want to do is buy a new computer from the brand only to have a new release that you want come out not too long after it. Staying current, doing research, and waiting can land you some great deals with certain brands of desktops.

  6. For the best deal when buying a new desktop computer, shop during and after back to school time or just before Christmas. These are the times when computer companies offer great deals on many of their best selling computers. Computer companies will also offer bundles of desktops and printers that can save you extra money.

  7. What will you be using your computer for? It is important to buy a computer that fits your needs. If you will be using your computer to play games, what you need from your computer will be different from what you will need if you are planning on using the computer to write papers for school.

As you now know, desktop computers can be easy to work with. You just have to know a little bit of information before you start. Take the things that were gone over here into account the next time you think that you are going to be working with a desktop computer.

Content Management System Helps in Custom Website Development

Content Management System Helps in Custom Website Development

The acronym CMS stands for content management system. It is the most common tool which is used for website development along with maintenance. Custom websites experiences ongoing development and improvement. The work of the CMS is to soothe the transformation of the ordinary website. It is quite easier to create an outstanding custom design, when the content management system is powerful.

1. Common themes can have original flare easily

Many a times, you might have clicked on website and have realized that you’ve seen this site before. Later you may notice that you saw a different site that looked the very same like the previous one. Several web designers have taken benefits of the powerful CMS and have banked on pre–designed themes. The content management system makes is simple to change styles site wide, colors with just few clicks, rather than uploading a simple theme template. With the help of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and a CMS interface, two different sites that may have the theme template would end up with different looks; even the theme similarities wouldn’t be recognized.

2. Makes website easily accessible for multiple users

Websites that are often updated are accessed by numerous people every day. These people generally include those who add contents (i.e. editors, reporters, photographers, writers) and those who are involved in the code and design. Multiple accesses are possible without using CMS. But with the help of CMS, a number of problems can be eliminated. A CMS allows more than a single person to update a part of a particular site at the same time. But updating the same part at the same time is prohibited. If the procedure is violated, the site automatically locks one user, until the current user is done.

3. Modifications and Plug–ins bring functional customization

Numerous add on scripts may be available, depending on the CMS you choose.
There are several packages that allow you to do anything you want in your website.
For Example: there are several ways to upload photos in your website, if you are interested to do so. The more popular your CMS is the more options will be available for customization.
For someone, who isn’t a skilled code writer, creating a modification or plug–in would be quite a tough job. New ones are being created thankfully.

4. WYSIWYG editors give a true look at changes via CMS Website Development

‘What You See Is What You Get’ also termed as WYSIWYG editor is a quite nice feature.
It allows the user to update content and layout. This is a quite suitable and helpful feature for people who don’t have much knowledge about HTML. This feature limits the time needed to check the work and fix any issues if required. Therefore using the WYSIWYG is quite helpful.

5. Keeps everything organized

The content management system helps the user to keep their content in a well organized way.
The growing collection of content that comes with the frequent updating should be properly stores. If the files are misplaced, the links could be broken. The more power and flexibility your CMS provides you, the easier it will be for you to customize the development of your website. Suitable cms website development services provide numerous features aimed at custom development for your websites.

Dare to Dream!

Dare to Dream!

A dreamer is a person who is not afraid to challenge society’s norms and not afraid to tread their own path rather than following the well–trodden path. A dreamer is someone who is always willing to take a chance and always asks why before doing something that others are doing blindly. A dreamer is a person who has a great futuristic picture which they work to achieve at all costs. Dreamers are world changers.

Do you have a deep desire to achieve something great? Do you want to live a more satisfying life? Can you see yourself being happy and successful in every way? Do you believe in your own potential and that there is much more to you than meets the eye?

If so, you are a dreamer. This article is dedicated to you. Right now you are the most important person around. If you had been the only person to ever read this article, I would still have written it, just for you. You are that special.

But before we go any further, let me qualify what a dreamer is because people often don’t appreciate being called dreamers. In fact, it’s almost an insult to call someone a dreamer these days. It’s associated with having your head in the clouds and not being realistic. So let me explain.

Dreamers chart their own course and destiny. Dreamers are always striving to be the person they were meant to be and are not afraid to be different. I believe every on of us is born unique in every way, but over the years we work very hard to become like everybody else.

Societies common sense tells us that this is the way to go. Unfortunately, commonsense is not always good–sense. It’s just common. If you are a dreamer you cannot afford to work on societies assumptions and standards. You have to be unique.

For instance, a lot of people have spent anywhere from 15–20 years getting an education so they can have that perfect job and the huge salary. Unfortunately for most, the perfect job and the huge earnings never materialize. They only have the long hard years of work and loads of papers to show for it!

I am here to tell you there is another way. It’s not for everyone. It’s not the only way. It’s not the easier way. Actually, it is more likely to be the harder way. But I guarantee you it is the best way. Brian Tracy states that “all successful men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.”

If you are not a dreamer I urge you to watch this space every week. It may shed light into the darkness in your life. Together, we can find answers to some of life’s questions, but YOU have to do the searching...

We all deal with life’s struggles but they have led me to some startling and amazing discoveries about human potential, achievement, motivation, success and living your dreams!

I hope your dream will come to life and make a positive contribution to the lives of the people of this world. You can make all the difference and, if you are a dreamer, I know you are not waiting for someone else to do it.

Seize the moment, Be bold and live your dream!

The Sky Is Not The Limit, Reach For The Stars

The Sky Is Not The Limit, Reach For The Stars

In the immortal words of Napoleon Hill a man who truly understood that, “there are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge”, has also powerfully expressed, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

What exactly are you capable of achieving? What is a realistic expectation for your life and what constitutes sheer madness? Is there a limit to how high you should aim?

The simple answer to these questions is simply that you are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to; if you can think it, then it’s a realistic expectation; and you can aim as high as you want.

We have probably all heard the old saying: “the sky is the limit.” This would seem to have a lot of wisdom in it at first glance. However, it implies that man’s potential has a limit when in actual fact, man’s potential is limitless. Let’s examine what exactly your potential as a human being is.

Firstly, let’s define potential. Potential is all that you can be, but have not yet become. It is all you can accomplish, but have not yet accomplished. It is unexposed or dormant ability.

This means that the ability to become and to do is already there. It just hasn’t been brought out and utilized.

Consider a fertilized human egg (zygote). That single cell has the ability to form every part of the human body. Everything from your brain to your toenails can be formed by that single cell. It has unlimited potential.

Similarly, the human mind has unlimited potential. It has the limitless ability to create. We have been on earth for thousands of years, yet we are still making new discoveries today and creating new things everyday. We cannot exhaust the creative power of our minds.

The functioning of our minds remains, for the most part, a mystery even to modern day science. But even though we do not understand it’s functioning, we cannot deny its power.

Now that you understand that your potential is limitless, your next challenge is to answer the question: what do you want out of life?

If money, education, social status and so on, were no hindrance what would you want out of life? If all the knowledge and wealth in the world were at your disposal what would you want to be and to do?

Even with all the resources at your disposal, it is very likely that you would still struggle to come up with 3 goals that you are absolutely passionate about and to which you would dedicate every waking hour. Therein lies the problem — it is not your possibilities that are limited, it is your thinking!

Your vision is limited only by you. The problem is that you don’t know what you should be. It’s not your fault, really: your education has messed you up. It has taken your boundless potential and shrunk it and shaped it into a narrow title. You are a “nurse”, or “accountant” or “driver”.

It doesn’t matter what title has been placed on you, you need to break free from it. You are not what you do. See yourself as the truly capable human being that you are.

This requires that you look deep within and examine your mindset. Are there things you have accepted simply because everyone else seems to accept them? Have you accepted society’s standards as your own?

A word of caution: society celebrates mediocrity. Ordinary people do not like it when others get ahead. It only exposes their lack of vision and motivation. That is why mediocrity is often embraced and excellence is shunned. Being ordinary is acceptable.

If you want more, there is something wrong with you.If something is widely accepted and everyone is doing it, it is probably better for you as a dreamer not to do it. If you want to get what everyone else is getting, do what everyone else is doing.

It is not difficult to see the results others are getting from what they are doing. The good news is you don’t have to do what they are doing. Find your own way. Utilize the potential within you.

Dig out your potential like a prospector digs for oil. The oil has always been there just waiting to be tapped. But if no one bothered to search for it and bring it to the surface it would just remain there dormant, wasting and useless.

So it is with your potential. If you do not challenge yourself to grow beyond your present circumstances, it will just wasted and unfulfilled for you and the rest of humanity. It’s up to you to help expand the collective consciousness!
Do not rob this country of such a great resource as yourself. Utilize your potential. Be all that you can be so that when you die, you will have utilized every single drop of your being.

Marianne Williamson said — “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”

Be Realistic‚ Be Honest

Be Realistic‚ Be Honest

World is an illusion and we are all surrounded by the people who are unrealistic and impractical. How many of us today live in a realistic manner? I am sure not many do! This is because all of us have a bad habit to fake or to exaggerate. Be it telling story of a movie, or telling someone about our achievements, or sharing secrets about someone’s personal life. It’s so easy to multiply and magnify facts and we are all experts at doing it and with time often it happens naturally by habit.

One might wonder — why is it so tempting to stretch the facts? Is the reality not interesting enough? Or does it help to get your message across if you fake? Or does the exaggeration reflect realities that we had liked to create? Well, the reality is that when we stretch things bigger than they are, it makes things more complicated and difficult in our as well as other’s minds. Hence, every time we fake, we’re distorting reality. It’s seen as a form of lying, which creates mistrust in our lives and we end up losing respect from others. There is also a saying that ‘With One Lie, One Needs A Support From 100 Lies’.

So what’s the solution to cure this habit which some might term as a harmless habit. Well, it’s okay to exaggerate sometimes to make people laugh or to lighten up the atmosphere, but don’t overdo it, because sometimes it may become lethal for us as well as for others. Remember, we don’t need to exaggerate at every moment to prove our point. It’s not needed. Instead we must learn to be realistic.

Stay focused on the the facts, and do not allow our emotions to get the better out of us. So, be honest and trustworthy and you will be respected more.

Creating a Blog From Scratch – 7 Fast and Easy Steps to Start Blogging

Creating a Blog From Scratch – 7 Fast and Easy Steps to Start Blogging

Creating a blog from scratch? How you can setup your blog and start making money? This is the 7 easy and fast steps to start blogging and make money from it.

Blog are online journals. They are used as short form of web logs which means a list of writings on the Internet. When all the writing is combined together to give it a look like a small website it is called a blog. A blog can be comprised of news, articles, personal diary. Below are the 7 steps to start creating a blog from scratch.

1) Choose your blog niches

First thing you should do is to search on the topic you interested or have experienced in such as blogging such as dog training, golf swing etc.

2) Buy a domain name

Then go to domain marketplace such as GoDaddy or Namecheap, choose the relevant domain name related to your blog example if you interested in blogging on drawing I suggest that you buy domain name such as “drawingapicture.com, drawingforfun.com, howtodrawing.com”. The cost for buying a .com name is around $10–$40 depend on the domain marketplace.

3) Open a hosting account

Then you need to link the blog together with its hosting account. You can open a hosting account for just around $10 monthly and it can be used for multiple domain names.

4) Choose blog platform

Creating a blog from scratch is easy, choose a blog platform or interface that you find easy and nice for you. I recommend you to use either WordPress, Blogger or Tumblr. For me WordPress is much more better because it is search engine friendly.

5) Search a theme

If you want your blog to look more great, you can find a theme or template that is relevant to your blog content. There are free and also paid theme, for me I suggest if you want to manage your blog easily use the paid one, but if just want to test the waters you can use the free one. If you need to do a custom theme you can also find it and the service will cost you around $50 – $80 depending on the web designer.

6) Publish your blog

Then make sure you create content that is relevant to your blog, let say if you’re in dog training you can publish about dog training, dog food, dog health and etc. Please do not mix up your blog with irrelevant content let say you’re blogging about golf and your content is about how to diet, how to sleep well, hoe to make money. This is not relevant and the reader will go away from your blog!

7) Monetize your blog

How you can make money with your blog is to add some affiliate link from CPA Program, PPS Program, you can also promote an eBook on your blog. Other way that you can make money from  is to set up a page that consist an ecommerce store, many of the bloggers will use amazon associates and include it in their own blog. It is free to set up an amazon.com.

Creating a blog from scratch is not hard if you follow the steps that I mention above. These are the steps that is still used until today that make all the bloggers success in blogging.

How To Appear On The First Page Of Google Search Results

How To Appear On The First Page Of Google Search Results

The marketing question most small business owners ask is; How can I get my site to appear on the first page of Google results? This guide is designed for people who want to understand the basics of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and what they should be doing to their site to improve search results.

Once you create a website for your business, you quickly figure out that people are not flocking to it. When you assess the different ways of driving traffic, your options include advertising your website address, promoting your website address through Public Relations and gaining media coverage, encouraging other sites to link to you and getting placed in online directories.

However, these marketing activities will deliver small and sporadic volumes of traffic. The single biggest thing you can do to drive traffic is search engine marketing. Here is why: it is estimated that 80% of traffic to most websites comes from search engines. There are roughly 500 million searches performed everyday and 88% of that traffic comes from the top 4–5 search engines, Google, Yahoo, Ask and MSN. Of these, Google is by far the largest. Approximately 90% of people searching do not go past the third page of results and few go beyond the first page.

Therefore, if you want to drive traffic to your site it is imperative that you get onto the first three pages of Google and the other top search engines. Surprisingly, the majority of small businesses have not figured this out yet and for those who have, the majority are asking the question, How can I get my site to appear on the first page of Google search results?

Different Options

There are two main methods of appearing on the first page of search results.

Paid for results or Pay Per click (PPC)
This is where you pay to appear in the sponsored links section of the results page. In Google, this is at the top of the page and the right hand side. You decide which search keywords e.g. London restaurant, you would like to appear in. You appear in the search results and you pay for every user who clicks through to your site. The cost will vary by keyword and can range from 10p to several pounds or dollars per click, depending on how many other companies are bidding for that keyword.

Natural results achieved through SEO
Natural results are when you appear in the main list of results. You do not pay to appear or when a user clicks on your link. However, to appear on the first three pages of results, you need to implement a number of design and content changes to your website, which are termed Search Engine Optimisation or SEO.

Which is best?
Both have their merits, but natural results are by far the most preferable because once you have invested in SEO, you do not have to pay for the traffic that is generated.

PPC is a great solution if you:
Have just launched your website and you need immediate presence on the first page of result or if you have not yet successfully optimised your site to appear on the first page. Remember, there are thousands of websites all looking to appear on the first page of search results for certain keywords.

Spiders and Links: The Basics of How Search Engines Work

Without getting bogged down in the technical details of how search engines work, here are a few basics that you should be aware of.

Search engines want to ensure that the most relevant sites are displayed to customers who are searching for keywords e.g. London restaurants.

Each page is ranked by the search engine on different criteria.

Each search engine uses different criteria when calculating the ranking of the site, but there are some commonalities such as:
Automated Spiders are sent by the search engine to index each page on your site. These spiders log the content of your site. This allows the search engine to know whether the key words that a user is searching for appear within your site and on specific web pages. However, in addition, the search engines have decided that it is not sufficient to simply have the keywords appear in the site. They believe that the most useful and relevant sites for the person who is searching are those which have a lot of other relevant sites linking to it.

The important points you should take out are:

  • You want to make it as easy as possible for the spiders to visit and index your site.
  • You need to have relevant keywords on your site that are easily found by the spiders.
  • You need to have many other sites linking to your site.

Four Components of SEO

In order to optimise your website to appear in natural search results, there are four components that you will need to address.

1. Design: What to do when designing your website

Many small businesses make the mistake of designing their website and then start thinking about driving traffic to it. The problem is that the way you design your site can result in your site being ignored by the search engine spiders, which means you will receive very little traffic. When designing your site, ensure you avoid the following pitfalls and ask your marketing agency to confirm that they have been avoided.

Avoid flash sites
Sites are designed in HTML or flash codes. The spiders that are sent to your site by the search engines cannot read flash.

No frames
Some agencies design sites within frames. For example, the menu on the left might be within a frame and the main body of the page within another frame. It makes designing the site easier as the only thing that changes from page to page is the content within the frame. However, spiders cannot read what is inside a frame so you will not get indexed and noticed by search engines.

No dynamic pages
Some sites are developed with a database which generates dynamic pages. You can tell if there are dynamic pages on your site if there is a ? within the page URL. Again, most but not all of the search engines can read dynamic pages.

Text within graphics
To ensure text is read uniformly by different browsers, design agencies often put text within a graphic. It looks great, however, a spider cannot read what text is in a graphic and simply moves on.

Keywords
At design stage, think about the keywords you want to be found by on search engines and incorporate that into your design. For example, if you were to design your site so that a page was allocated to the most popular keywords, it would be easier to include more keywords on the page which would be found by the spiders.

2. Content: What to do when developing your content

Keywords

Choosing the keywords that you want to appear in search results for is one of the most important things you can do. Think of it as planning the location for a physical shop. Choosing keywords that people search for a lot (i.e. generates a lot of potential traffic) and then ensuring that those keyword are peppered around your site (i.e. more chance that the spiders will index them giving you a good chance of appearing high in search results) could result in your being positioned on Oxford street as opposed to a back alley.

Invest time in choosing the keywords. Think about how you would search for your product or service. If you are running a restaurant, you should immediately think beyond the generic search keyword of restaurant and consider descriptive keywords such as seafood restaurant or family restaurant. You also need to think of target keywords, so consider London restaurant or London seafood restaurant.

Once you have decided on your keywords, you need to place them throughout your site. The main areas are:

Web page title
This is what you see written in the title bar of the browser. It is also what you see when you bookmark a page. This should explain what the purpose of your site or your page is and include keywords, but always in such a way that makes sense to a user who reads it.

Meta tags
The tags are not visible to users but they explain what the content of the page is. Keywords should be placed in here as they are easily searchable by spiders.

Homepage content
Your homepage is searched by the spiders and you should ensure that your keywords appear near the top header. They should also be sprinkled throughout the homepage. See keyword density for guidance on this.

Keyword density
A question often asked is how many times your keywords should appear on a page. The guidance for SEO is that each page should have a minimum of 250 words; your keywords should account for 2 – 8% of the word on the page. That means they should appear between 4 and 16 times.

Two important points to bear in mind are:

  1. You need to balance the need to write your copy for your users, in order to sell your product, and the need to write your copy for search engines, in order to be found.
  2. To help you achieve both objectives you should focus on a couple of keywords for each page rather than a large number.

3. Links

Inbound links are key
To combat a lot of sites achieving high page ranking by simply stuffing their sites with keywords, the search engines have placed a higher weighting on the value of the number of sites which link into a site. The rationale is that if a site is linked to by lots of other sites, then it must be offering popular and relevant content.

Therefore, your site might be designed in a way that is easily searchable by spiders and your content might be sprinkled with keywords, but you need to have other sites linking to you in order to achieve success.

Audit your links

Ensure you know how many other websites are linking into your site and set a goal for increasing that figure. You should have at least 100 quality links.

How to get links
There are many creative ways to generate links to your site:

  • Ask friends, customers or suppliers to link to your site.
  • Post comments on forums or discussion groups with a link back to our site.
  • Register your site with sites such as stumbleupon and if users like your site, they will bookmark it, creating a link to your site.
  • Issue an online press release which should result in online media coverage and links back to your site.
  • Register your site with multiple directories.

4. Maintenance:

Once you achieve a high ranking in the search engines, it is important to realise that you need to maintain your ranking. The criteria the search engines use in the algorithms constantly change and what works today may not work next week. Your site will need to be tweaked to bring you back up the rankings

Restart the Game of Life

Restart the Game of Life

Written by Bryce Christiansen

The movie Wreck–It Ralph is about Ralph a ‘bad guy’ and his journey of self–discovery who is in search of happiness. Here are some Wreck–It Ralph’s inspirational tips to restart the game of life.

Mistakes are a part of the game

The character Vanellope happens to be a ‘glitch’ in her game. As such, she’s treated poorly by the other characters. They break her belongings, shun her from competing, and leave her homeless. She understandably feels like her whole life is one big mistake. But after every mistake comes the lesson. And Vanellope sure delivers on that promise as the movie develops. Mistakes are just as common in our game of life. But the question is, do you learn and improve from them, or do you get frustrated and rage quit?

The game jump

In the Wreck–It Ralph world, characters don’t move from one game to another. It’s unheard of and only ‘evil’ has come from anyone who has jumped games in the past. But sometimes it takes a change in pace or environment to discover your passions and what you really want from life. We game jump by changing out with different sets of friends. The transition isn’t always smooth, but you almost always come away feeling good about your decision. The game jump may look scary, but the rewards can be priceless.

Every role is important

In the game world, villains are taken for granted. The ‘good guys’ are celebrated, appreciated, and held on a pedestal, while the villains slunk off to their shabby homes every night. But it’s funny how quickly the perspective changes once you take the villain out of the game. The children show up to play and now there’s nothing for them ‘to fix’ actually was, and they’ll do anything to get him back. You might not feel your role in life is important … neither did George Bailey. Even small impacts leave large ripples. You never know who is depending on you despite the lack of appreciation and support.

Don’t chase shiny medals

Ralph wanted respect and appreciation from his peers. He thought maybe other people would treat him as an equal if he had a medal like Felix. So he goes off looking for one. Do you think getting a medal solves his problems? Not really. But we do the same thing. We think if only I get that raise, promotion, or new job … then life will be better. We hang onto the hope of a new future for ourselves, only realising once we arrive there, we still have the same problems. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs makes it pretty clear. Shiny medals don’t get you the needs at the top of your pyramid; things like friends, family, your full potential. Those things come from character, your heart, your personality. Shiny medals will make you feel special for a moment, but the kind of person you are will make you feel special for a lifetime.

You are more than a job

The characters in the movie have a hard time recognising they’re more than two dimensional programming. Ralph has several opportunities to make a difference, but he constantly remarks, “All I’m good at doing is wrecking stuff.” What do you expect when all people tell him is , “You’re just bad guy who wrecks the building?” He eventually finds that’s not the case, but we often do the same things. We introduce ourselves to new people by our careers. “I’m a carpenter, a banker, a receptionist.” Like that’s what makes us who we are. But unlike the characters in the movie, we are three dimensional. We have talents, personalities and dozens of other traits that make us unique and remarkable. Resetting the game of life might mean new career path or lifestyle, but it doesn’t change who you are. Like Zangief says, “Ralph you may be a bad guy … but that doesn’t make you a bad guy.”

7 Basic Points to Remember When Buying a Laptop

7 Basic Points to Remember When Buying a Laptop

Buying a new laptop is never easy, especially when you are confronted with a sea of options. Other than the basic functioning of a laptop, most of us don’t know squat of what’s going on inside the laptop. It is not just the budget or the general look of the laptop that should matter, but even the model, RAM and its specifications should make a difference. Here are a few basic points that you need to look into when buying a laptop.

Know Your Requirements

Start off by knowing exactly what purpose your laptop is going to serve. If you are just going to use it for general purposes then you will not need a laptop as powerful as the one that is used by graphic designers. Knowing your requirements will help narrow down your search, which in turn will make the choice easy.

Portability

The average screen size of a laptop is 12.1 to 14.4 inches. But, if you tend to travel a lot then it is a good idea to get your hands on smaller notebooks. Their average screen size is 10 inches and they are easy to carry; they are also lighter and far cheaper. However, if your work requires you to stay put in a place then regular laptops make more sense for you. Regular laptops have better speed and power.

Battery Life

Working on a laptop that  has a battery which keeps draining can be painful. That’s why it is important to put your cash in a system that gives good battery backup. For instance, if you have your eyes on a 15 inch laptop then make sure it gives at least 4 hours’ power conveyance and for a portable notebook, it should be minimum 6 hours. Really powerful laptops can give you battery life anywhere between 10 to 20 hours.

Display

You will have two options in display — the cheap dual scan display and the improved TFT displays. If your work does not involve you to use more than Word and Excel, then go for the cheaper one. And for visual graphics, the improved TFT displays make better sense.

Processor

Ever tried working on a laptop that takes ages to download a page and works at a snail’s pace? It’s a nightmare! The speed of your laptop basically depends on the processor. The better the processor, the faster your laptop will work. Even if it pushes your budget a bit too much, make sure to buy a laptop with a good processor.

RAM

Memory is the most important thing to consider when buying a laptop. Even the cheapest of laptops these days comes with  1 GB RAM. So, don’t settle for anything less and buy a laptop with  4 GB minimum, as it will enable you to run multiple applications without slowing down the system.

Keyboard

Never underestimate the importance of the keyboard when buying a laptop. It can make or break the deal. If you tend to do a lot of typing, run your fingers on the keyboard to see the comfort level. And in case you have pets around your home, make sure you buy a keyboard with keys placed close together or else your pet can easily pluck them out.

Don’t just believe everything the manufacturer claims. It is wise to check reviews online first before you make your choice. And before you discard your old laptop, give it for servicing first; you will manage to get a better resale value.

Four-legged Angel

Four-legged Angel

Written by Loseph J Mazzella

As a boy I was always small for my age. I was also five years younger than one of my brothers and seven years younger than the other. As a result I often felt left out when their friends came over to play. I was either too small or too young for whatever they were doing and they didn’t want their younger brother listening in on their conversations either. Often I was outside playing alone and feeling forgotten.

I remember one spring afternoon feeling especially lonely as I sat in the yard behind our house. We lived miles from town and I rarely saw my own friends outside of school. I heard my brothers laughing from inside the house and felt a single tear coming down my cheek. At that moment I saw a large, shaggy, brown dog walking over to me. His face was panting happily and his tail was wagging as well. Even though he didn’t know me he greeted me like a long lost friend, licking my chin and sitting beside me on the spring grass. It must have been at least an hour that I petted and talking to this four-legged angel. He let me pour out all my troubles and share my deepest thoughts before he kissed my cheek goodbye and ambled off either to heaven or his home. I went back inside feeling happy, knowing that no matter what life may hold I was loved. Now over 40 years later I still remember that furry angel with a smile. I believe that God sent him in that moment of sadness to remind me just how much he loved me.

In truth, nothing brings us greater joy than knowing we are loved. Knowing we are loved gives us the strength to love others as well. Knowing we are loved helps us to be the people God meant for us to be. Knowing we are loved aids us in making Earth more like heaven. Remember then just how much God loves you. Embrace that love. Take joy in it. Welcome it into your heart. And then go out and share your own with the world.
