The Best Times to Post on Social Media

The Best Times to Post on Social Media

Let’s not lie. Timing is huge.

Some people have wondered if it really matters at what time social media posts are made. Just think about it – If you post an incredible piece of content, but no one’s there to read it, how much has it accomplished? Post at the wrong time and accomplish nothing. Post at the right time and you could grow your online presence by leaps and bounds. It’s especially important if you’re doing social media marketing.

The following infographic from Fannit displays the best times to post on social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and blogs:

The Best Times to Post on Social Media
Summary:

Best times to post on Facebook:

  • Best times – Weekdays from 6-8AM and 2-5PM
  • Worst times – 10PM-4AM

Best times to post on Twitter:

  • Best times – 1-3PM, especially on weekends
  • Worst times – 8PM-8AM

Best times to post on Google+:

  • Best times – 9-11AM
  • Worst times – 6PM-7AM

Best times to post on LinkedIn:

  • Best times: 7-8:30AM, 5-6PM
  • Worst times – Monday and Friday, and 9AM-5PM

Best times to post on Pinterest:

  • Best times – Saturday morning, 2-4PM and 8-11PM
  • Worst times – 5-7PM and 1-7AM

Best times to post on Blogs:

  • Best times – Monday, Friday, and Saturday at 11AM
  • Worst times – 11PM-8AM

In order to reach the greatest number of people, choose carefully when you post on each social network that you’re on. Post at the right time and bump up your online presence to a high degree; post at the wrong time and you’ll fail to reach your audience.

But posting at the right time is not the one and only magical way to reach the masses. Also be sure to post content that is pleasing to those following you, post pictures that people will appreciate, as pictures typically perform better than text, use trending hashtags when possible, etc. All these things play a part in your effort to grow your audience and build your online reputation.

However, *this information is not enough*. You can’t be relevant to your community if you just follow general advice. You need to dig deeper and do the following:

1. Know Your Audience

Statistics about peak posting hours are useful, but a great post can be wasted if your target audience never sees it. Knowing when your customers are most active on each social media platform is crucial to your posting success.

Someone working in finance and a freshman in college have completely different schedules. Hone in on your market and reach your audience when they’re most likely to see your post. For instance, Twitter found that mobile users are nearly 3 times more likely to be on Twitter during their commute. They are also 1.2 times as likely to use Twitter during school or work hours.

How is this useful? Taco Bell knows that their strongest demographic is between the ages of 18-34. Even though Twitter engagement dies down later in the day Taco Bell may still post a tweet on Friday night knowing that many of their target audience will be coming home from a late night out, hungry for some munchies.

2. Tap into the Moment

Large media events present great opportunities for you to connect with your customers in real time. React in the moment and create a conversation with your followers. Great content isn’t always planned ahead.

Example: Oreo posted a great tweet about “Dunking in the Dark” when the lights went out during Super Bowl XLVII. Oreo’s quick reaction on social media produced a valuable opportunity that not only engaged Oreo’s consumer base, but also added to their image as a brand. Garnering 15,780 retweets, the post created a greater payoff for Oreo than their actual Super Bowl Ad.

Pay attention to live events and current pop-culture trends. Strike when the time is right and your post can have a much larger effect, whilst also creating a closer connection with your followers. But beware content still matters. Without the great tagline and content of the post, Oreo’s tweet may have fluttered rather than soared.

3. The Technology is there, Use it

Creating valuable content and perfecting its distribution is not easy, thankfully there are tools that can help.

Developers have made available hundreds of programs that can help simplify the process. Whether it be analytics or tracking or both. There’s a tool for nearly every problem one may face. Here’s a few to help you along the way:

Problem: I don’t know when my followers are online

SocialBro to see when your followers post and how far their influence travels. Find your strongest audience and grow your brand.

Insights Facebook has their own useful analytics tool see statistics on any of your brand pages.

SimplyMeasured a free Instagram analytics tool.

Problem: I’m too busy to remember when I should tweet during the day

Buffer can auto-schedule your tweets to best fit when your audience is online. Then export those optimal tweet times to SocialBro.

Problem: I want to keep a consistent reply rate to my followers on twitter but I have no way of tracking how efficient my response times are

Must Be Present works well to keep track of your Twitter response times. Let your customers know that you’re listening to what they have to say.

According to research from Lithium Technologies, 53 percent of users who tweet at a brand expect a response within the hour. This percentage grows to 72% when users post a complaint.

Problem: I can’t get my high quality event photos on social media immediately

Eyefi instantly transfers photos from your dslr camera up to your cloud storage.

Improving your Social Media strategy is an important first step in building a stronger relationship with your customers.

Happy posting!

The Evolution of 21st Century Telecommunications

The Evolution of 21st Century Telecommunications

In the 21st century telecommunication plays vital role in the peoples lives. We rely so much on telecommunication these days, that we cannot even imagine how people were able to communicate with one another without the existence of internet and mobile phones which are one of the main tools for telecommunication in the present. Technology has a never-ending story. It speaks about change and evolution and not about permanence.

Technology changed the way the people look and use such stuff. It is not surprising to see communication tools evolve through the course of history. It is not surprising to see communication tools evolve through the course of history. From the Morse code and telegraph mode of communication during the early times come the modern and sophisticated communication tools, which are produced for a single purpose-to provide individuals an effective, reliable, and convenient communication channel in keeping in touch with their friends and loved ones all over the world.

Regular telephone lines started the saga of modern communication system, which allowed individuals to make voice calls anywhere in the world in exchange for a certain fee charge on a per-minute or per-call basis, depending on the telephone service provider. At the later decades of the 20th century, mobile phones were introduced to the market. Such mobile phones allowed a user to make voice calls even if he or she is in a remote area, provided that the mobile phone service reaches such remote area. Satellite phones are also produced to cater individuals who are living outside the coverage area of a regular mobile phone service provider. These are all products of technology to make existing communication systems convenient and reliable for the public to use.

At the early years of the 21st century, the communication industry introduced another form of modern communication, which is said to be the most reliable and cost-effective communication tool nowadays-the Voice over Internet Protocol, or commonly known as VoIP. This latest communication offering is now wisely used for business application and now getting popular among residential and other applications as well.

Should You Blog, 15 Reasons Say Yes!

Should You Blog, 15 Reasons Say Yes!

Should you blog? That may be a question you’ve had but haven’t acted upon in part due to possible technical challenges or a shopping list of other reasons! Well the fact is these platforms are relatively easy to maintain so technical challenges are NOT an issue! Perhaps you’re simply not motivated enough to start blogging therefore I’m presenting 15 reasons below that may change that!

Passion Outlet

Having a passion about something is a wonderful feeling but being able to share it with like-minded others is even better! Once you start blogging about your passion you’ve now open the doors to an audience that spans the globe! There’s no telling how many interested readers you can attract and their comments will only ‘enlighten’ you on the subject as your entries do for them!

The Ease

Blogs are very easy to maintain and rarely offer any technical challenges that any novice to the internet can’t overcome! If you can use micro-soft or open office to compose a document, then you can blog!

The Cost

Except for the cost of a domain name and website hosting, which can be had for under $10 a month, you can start blogging free of charge!

It’s Good For Business

Both individuals as well as large organizations use these platforms for business purposes! Being blogs are so easy to maintain and at such a minimal cost, leveraging their flexibility and effectiveness to make money makes cents!

You Learn to Write

As a blogger you will be writing quite a bit and the good thing about this is the more you write the easier it becomes! Writing is a ‘skill’ you can improve upon with practice and most bloggers get plenty of this by keeping their sites regularly updated!

You Learn to Listen

Once you start blogging you’ll quickly learn the importance of using comments left by visitors to improve your writing and your site! Blogs are meant to offer reading material visitors enjoy viewing and the best way to determine this is to ‘listen’ closely to what their comments are saying!

You Learn to Communicate

Learning to write starts with learning to communicate your thoughts! Much like writing, the more you ‘translate’ your thoughts and/or feelings into words the easier it becomes!

Share Your Experience

Everybody has got something they can share that will benefit others! Most bloggers tend to offer their insight or experience when composing updates as do readers when they leave comments! In both cases everybody ‘wins’ in terms of being ‘exposed’ to thoughts or ideas they may not have otherwise considered!

Global Audience

Whether you start blogging for business or personal reasons one thing is for sure, the global internet audience will definitely enhance your efforts! Business bloggers now have a much larger ‘sales’ base they can work with and those who write for personal reasons can build a much larger following as well!

Better Time Management

Although blogs are easy to maintain, creating the content for them does take time! Here too with practice and experience most bloggers learn how to make the best use of the time available to them!

Better Research Skills

As just mentioned above, you’ll be creating content quite a bit once you start blogging which will often require research on your part! Remember skills are not the same as talents insofar as you can improve skills with practice whereas a ‘talent’ is typically something many are born with! Through sheer repetition alone you’ll quickly determine strategies and sources that work best for you when developing content as a blogger!

Gives You a Platform

It has been mentioned previously that many start blogging due to a personal passion or business purposes! Well blogs offer you the platform from which to conduct business or to share and exchange ideas with others! The fact that these platforms are easy to maintain only serves to ‘sweeten’ the deal for bloggers no matter what their motivations!

Reach Goals Easier

No kidding by sharing your goals with readers and charting your progress with them helps keep you motivated! By ‘publicly’ stating your goals and/or intentions you’ve now created a ‘forum’ of support as well as a source that will hold you accountable if you decide to slack off or even abandon the cause! It’s amazing how motivated people can be when they’re being watched by others!

Hell, You Make Friends!

Sharing your interest with like-minded others and allowing them to share their thoughts creates a bond on different levels! Mutual interest, casual banter and even admiration for shared thoughts, insights and/or knowledge can easily lead to a friendly relationship! Is that all that bad?

It’s Just Plain Fun

Once you get comfortable with blogging and you see your followers increasing it gives you a great feeling of satisfaction! Now the ‘tension’ tends to decrease due to the results you’re seeing and your growing familiarity with what to do!

If you’re still wondering why should you blog hopefully some of the reasons discussed above will get you started! Not only are blogs easy to maintain but they offer little in terms of technical challenges as well! Although any of the reasons listed above should be strong enough for you to start blogging, the one final obstacle you may face is a lack of motivation! If motivation is a problem for you then start blogging and share your difficulties about getting motivated with your readers! Remember, as discussed above, others can help to motivate you provided you share with them your thoughts and goals! Ultimately the first step is up to you to take, so start blogging to experience some or all of the benefits presented here today!

What Happens to Your Social Media Profiles When You Die?

What Happens to Your Social Media Profiles When You Die?

One of life’s most perplexing existential questions gets a lot more complicated when you factor in social media.

While there’s no definitive answer to what happens to us when we die, Dan Shaffer at WebpageFX put together a visual guide to social media life after death. While Twitter will start deleting accounts after six months of inactivity, most other social networks won’t touch your profile unless specifically asked by a family member or an agent of law enforcement. Whether your account is deleted or deactivated, your data will be interred with your profile, and will typically only be unearthed if needed for a legal investigation.

Different sites require various forms of identification and proof of death to delete a profile, but Facebook allows you to turn a lost loved one’s profile into a memorial page. The memorialized timeline is accessible and searchable only to friends, who can still post and look at pictures. The profile won’t trigger birthday reminders, nor will it appear in “People You May Know” prompts, so friends will only see it on their own accord.

Facebook won’t delete profiles on its own, though, which raises another interesting question: When will the profiles of dead Facebook users outnumber those of the living? According to research by XKCD, that will happen around 2065 if Facebook stops growing, or around 2130 if its membership keeps expanding.

Now if only we could figure out if there was an Internet heaven or hell.

Why is Hard Drive Shredding a Better Option Than Formatting

Hard Drive Shredding a Better Option Than Formatting

Formatting a hard drive is a common method when it comes to recycling or reusing the hard drive of a computer. It is a method which most people undertake while selling off or reusing their computers. Also, formatting is something which helps liberating the device off all the viruses and malicious programs. It greatly enhances the security and improves the speed of the machine as well. Just as there are these pros which come associated with hard drive formatting, there are a few cons also.

When you choose to format hard drive, you remove all the data from it by using the extensive delete option using a certain program or software. Just as there are software applications available for the formatting process, there are also a few programs which can undo what you’ve deleted. Yes, once a hard drive has been formatted, data stored on it previously can be easily recovered using some specific data recovery programs.

Apart from hard drive formatting, there are a few other methods also which can be used to erase a hard drive. These methods make data on the hard drives irrecoverable. Some of the popular and secure data destruction methods are:

  • Hard Drive Wiping
  • Hard Drive Destruction
  • Hard Drive Shredding

Of these three methods, hard drive shredding is the most common one which people resort to. It offers better security and guarantee that the data on the drives will not be recovered by any means. Also, a lot of people choose firms which help them in disposing off and shredding the hard drives.

A hard drive shredder is used in the process. This shredder is actually a mechanical gadget which makes the hard drive irrecoverable. It involves slicing down of every track on each platter of the drive. Just as the name suggests, shredding is all about destroying the hard drive physically so that it cannot be re-used.

For business enterprises, rather than choosing to format hard drive, going in for a service like shredding or wiping which leaves bleak chances of data recovery is the best thing to do. In order to keep important data, passwords and financial details from falling into the wrong hands, getting one’s hard drive shred is the best thing.

Instead of choosing to format your hard drive, get yours shredded from an efficient service provider like Secure Data Destruction Solutions. You’ll be able to find various services which will help you keep your data safe. Also it’ll safeguard your reputation as a business entity.

How to Access Blocked Websites and Bypass Filters

How to Access Blocked Websites and Bypass Filters?

How can you access blocked sites and cross web filters? Many people deal with controlled access to specific websites. This happens especially in some countries where Internet censorship is applied and people’s access to specific websites is restricted. Also, these days more and more institutions, schools and companies are implementing this type of software on their computers. But Internet filtering is not a problem because there are many tools and methods that enable you to bypass filters and to unblock websites.

Many work places and schools are cracking down on the web sites and online services. Blocking access to social sites has been a common tactic. The most common websites that are blocked in schools include MySpace, Bebo and Facebook. There are however always legitimate reasons to bypass the internet filters and visit the blocked websites.

The following methods will help you access blocked websites in school, college or your company.

Anonymous Web Proxy

Using a web proxy to bypass restrictions. Proxies that focus on website browsing are called web proxies. A web proxy works by acting as a “middle man”: it downloads the requested pages to its proxy server and in turn you download the page, all images and other such objects from the proxy server to your browser, thus bypassing any filters and annoying firewalls.

One of the most popular methods is using a web proxy. An anonymous proxy server is an intermediate between your computer and the server you are requesting the information. Although this is an easy way it’s not the safest one. Even if the server does not have your information, the intermediate has it so you are not completely anonymous. The advantage of this method is that there are many free web proxies available over the Internet.

The most known resource for web proxies is Proxy.org. The list contains proxies all over the world, it’s periodically updated and provides link to specific web proxies in a random order. Due to the fact that the proxies are listed randomly, the chance of getting an over used proxy is considerably decreased. Other important resources of free web proxies are: Hide My Ass, Anonymouse.org, and Proxify.co.uk.

You can search on Google for “myspace proxy” and find a great deal of other web proxies as well.

But chances are that your school administration has already blocked access to most web proxies as well. In that case, you have other more options:

Hide IP address software

The second option is to use hide IP address applications. There are simple applications where with a simple click you can enable anonymity, or complex application that allows you to add manually proxies into the list, which will allow you to test proxies in advance and even clean cookies and temporary internet files. To be sure that the application suites your needs you should test the trial first and see how many proxies they have and from which countries.

The most known free hide IP address application is TOR Project. The application suits best to advanced Internet users because the configuration is not very simple. Other applications that are easy to use by anyone are: Ultra Surf, Anonymous Surfing, IP Privacy and Not My IP.

You can download Ultrasurf (search on Google for “Ultrasurf”) and save it to a USB stick. UltraSurf is a green software, which means no installation process is needed nor system setting is required to change when using the software. UltraSurf implements almost all browser functions based on HTTP and user needs, such as browsing websites, login and posting on web forums, using Web mail, uploading and downloading data files, real time audio, video and other multimedia programs, etc.

VPN connections

A third way used to unblock web sites is through a VPN. A VPN is a Virtual Private Network that is constructed by using public wires to connect nodes. A great advantage of these systems is that they use encryption and other security systems so only authorized users can access the network and the data cannot be tracked. Hotspot Shield is the most used these days and it’s 100% free. It creates a virtual private network (VPN) between your laptop or iPhone and our Internet gateway blocking snoopers, hackers, ISP’s, or other person from viewing your web browsing activities.

An important aspect that users must take in consideration is that before changing the IP address you must know what type of address your computer has. If you have a static IP address than you have to call your ISP and ask them to change it while if you have a dynamic IP address than you can apply any of the methods above.

The more people are aware of these tricks, the more likely your network administrators will catch on and find ways to shut them down. So be sure not to let others know how to do these tricks. Accessing unauthorized web sites using the above tricks may be considered a violation of school or work policies and might put you in trouble. Use them at your own risk.
